The Food Bank of Monterey County also runs mobile produce sites and seasonal holiday distributions at schools, parks and community centers throughout the County. Sites include: Carmel Valley, Castroville, Chualar, Gonzales, Greenfield, King City, Las Lomas, Marina, Prunedale, Salinas, San Ado, Seaside, and Soledad. These are especially helpful for fresh produce, fruits + vegetables, besides the standard pantry boxes. Most of the locations have only one scheduled day per month so be sure to check the schedule and plan accordingly.
Tips for Families
- Call ahead: Hours, eligibility, and procedures change (especially during holiday weeks).
- Arrive early: Holiday meal kits and boxes tend to go fast.
- Ask about home-delivery: Some programs reserve a number of meals for homebound or mobility-limited individuals.
- Bring ID or household info: Some pantries ask for a proof of residence, size of household, or prior registration.
- Plan for storage: If you receive a frozen turkey/meal kit, make sure you have space for thawing/freezing if needed.
- Know your neighborhood resources: Many distributions are localized (e.g., schools, community centres) for convenience.
