Volunteer Day at Carmel River State Beach

Volunteer in YOUR state parks! Join California State Parks for a family-friendly volunteer day at Carmel River State Beach every 2nd Saturday of the month.

WHAT: Help us restore the iconic bluffs and beaches of Carmel River State Beach! Projects vary each month but may include planting native plants, weeding invasive plants, watering restoration sites, and more! This work helps improve habitat for the endangered Smith’s Blue Butterfly along with a host of other dune species.

WHEN: Every 2nd Saturday of the month. 9am – 12pm.

WHERE TO MEET: Meet at the corner of Ribera Road and Cuesta Way in the Carmel Meadows Neighborhood off of Hwy 1.

WHAT TO BRING: Bring water, gloves, snacks, sunscreen, hat. Tools, training and spare gloves provided!

What should I bring? – Please bring water, sunscreen, snacks, hat, work gloves, closed-toe shoes, long pants. Extra gloves, tools, and training provided!

Do I need to RSVP? – Letting us know you are planning to attend a volunteer day helps us with planning, but it is not required. If you plan to volunteer with a group, please let us know (volunteer.monterey@parks.ca.gov)! For California State Parks Foundation Co-Sponsored events (Garrapata SP and Fort Ord Dunes SP), you can pre-register at: www.calparks.org/volunteer

How do I find you? – Check the “Meeting Location” section of each event posted on our website for a Google Maps link to this month’s meeting location. For most parks we try to meet in the same place each month to make it easy!

Are children allowed? – Children are allowed with parent/guardian permission and a supervising adult on site. You know your child, so please use your best judgement!

Can I bring my dog? – We kindly request that you leave pets and animals at home.
