1. Read Something True, Learn Something New for Know-vember: This November, MCFL is challenging readers to “Read Something True, Learn Something New.” All month long, library staff will share the nonfiction books they’ve read and loved, and readers are invited to share their own favorites too. Stop by your local branch to discover something new during Know-vember.
2. Celebrate Native American Heritage Month: November is Native American Heritage Month, and MCFL will spotlight it every Tuesday throughout the month. Read an author who’s new to you and discover new perspectives through reading across cultures. Check your local branch for book displays.
3. A Month of Gratitude: With Thanksgiving around the corner, MCFL is celebrating gratitude — for the patrons who support the library through their regular visits, and for the Monterey County Free Libraries Foundation and Friends groups. Families who want to give back can donate to the Foundation at fmcfl.org/give.
4. Featured Online Resources: VetNow and CultureGrams: This month’s featured online resources are VetNow and CultureGrams. VetNow offers veterans support resources, including job search help. CultureGrams lets users explore cultures around the world and learn about their people, history, customs and more — a great tool for school reports, too.
5. Holiday Closures: All MCFL branches will be closed Wednesday, November 11, in recognition of Veterans Day, and Thursday, November 26, and Friday, November 27, for Thanksgiving.
