Not a “Parenting” Business? Here’s Why You Should Still Book a Booth at Our Back to School Expo

Mark your calendars: the Monterey Bay Parent Back to School Expo returns Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Del Monte Center in Monterey — and booth registration is open now.

When people picture our Expo, they usually think of the obvious exhibitors: preschools, pediatricians, tutoring centers, school districts. And yes, those businesses are the backbone of the event. But every year, some of our most successful exhibitors are the ones you wouldn’t expect — insurance agents, financial advisors, dentists, HVAC companies, real estate teams, auto dealerships, home improvement contractors, and more.If your business isn’t “parenting” on the surface, here’s why Monterey County parents are still exactly the customers you’re looking for:

You reach decision-makers, not just browsers. Parents attending a Back to School Expo are actively planning, budgeting, and making household decisions for the season ahead — they’re primed to think about insurance reviews, home projects, financial planning, and more, not just school supplies.Families are a captive, engaged audience. Unlike a random retail encounter, Expo attendees came specifically to explore what local businesses have to offer. They’re walking booth to booth with time and attention to give you.Monterey County households are your neighbors, not strangers. This is hyper-local marketing at its best. You’re not competing with national ads — you’re building face-to-face trust with the families who live, work, and spend right here in Monterey, Salinas, Seaside, Marina, and beyond.Back to school is a natural trigger for big decisions. New school year, new schedules, new budgets — parents are already reassessing everything from their car’s reliability for the carpool line to their family’s insurance coverage. Your business can be top of mind at exactly the right moment. You build brand recognition with an audience you’ll see again and again. Monterey County is a tight-knit community. The parent you meet at your booth might be your next client, but they’re also a referral source, a neighbor, and someone you’ll see around town for years. You get direct access to a demographic advertisers pay a premium for. Parents of school-age kids are established, engaged consumers with real purchasing power — for homes, vehicles, insurance policies, and financial products alike. It’s a low-cost, high-visibility way to support the community. Sponsoring or exhibiting signals that your business is invested in local families, which builds goodwill and loyalty that a billboard or digital ad simply can’t replicate.Face time beats a scroll-past social media post every time. A five-minute conversation at a booth does more to build trust than a dozen impressions on social media — and it gives you a chance to actually answer questions and address objections in real time.

Whether you sell insurance, fix roofs, manage investments, or sell cars, the parents walking through Del Monte Center on August 8th are your customers too. Booth space is limited and fills up fast — reserve your spot today to connect with hundreds of Monterey County families in one afternoon.
