Here are four easy-to-make crafts that are perfect for keeping kids busy around Valentine’s Day. They also make great Valentine’s Day gifts for classroom giving.
PAINT YOUR OWN VASE CENTERPIECE
An easy and creative idea is to paint your own vases and then make your own flower arrangements to be special centerpieces for your Valentine’s family dinner. We ordered the Singhoow 4 Set Paint Your Own Porcelain Vases Paint Vase Art Craft Project set from Amazon.com. For around $20, you can get sets of four vases and paints. You can get various flowers from Trader Joe’s or the local farmer’s market and spend the night painting and filling your vases with multiple flowers.
HEART-SHAPED CRAYON MELTS
Gather all those broken crayons lying around the house and turn them into colorful heart-shaped masterpieces. Peel off the paper wrappers, break the crayons into small pieces, and place them in silicone heart molds. Bake at 250°F for about 10 minutes, or until the crayons are melted. Let them cool completely before popping them out of the molds. The crayons make great Valentine’s Day gifts for friends and classmates.
DIY VALENTINE CARDS
Let kids design their own Valentine’s Day cards using construction paper, markers, stickers, and glitter. Encourage them to write heartfelt messages or draw pictures that reflect their love for family and friends. For a personal touch, add a photo or a small trinket to the card. A bonus, this activity allows children to practice writing.
LOVE BUG BOOKMARKS
Transform simple craft sticks into adorable love bug bookmarks. Paint the sticks in bright colors and glue on googly eyes, pipe cleaner antennae, and heart-shaped wings made from construction paper. The bookmarks make a cute gift for classmates.
