The cities on the Monterey Peninsula, as well as Carmel Valley, and Salinas have some awesome trick-or-treat opportunities. Here’s where you can get all of the treats in Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel, Seaside, and Marina, Salinas, and Carmel Valley.
Candy Cane Lane in Pacific Grove. This beautiful family-oriented neighborhood is right off of Forest Avenue. You’ll find decorated homes, lots of lights, and most of the homes ready with candy for the kids. It gets very busy so plan for crowds. You’ll most likely be parking away from the neighborhood and can take a short walk to get to the neighborhood.
Carmel Valley Village. The merchants of Carmel Valley Village as well as the homes surrounding the Village welcome trick or treaters.
Casanova Oak Knoll. The Casanova Oak Knoll neighborhood of Monterey is located near the North Fremont Business District. Family-friendly and tight knit, it’s a good spot for trick or treating.
Central Pacific Grove. Pretty much any neighborhood in Pacific Grove is good for trick or treat. Be sure to carry a flashlight because the streets are dark but the houses brightly lit will welcome your little ones with a treat.
Deer Flats in Monterey. Known for its quiet streets and convenient location, Deer Flats is a popular spot for trick or treating.
East Garrison. This planned community is located on Reservation Road east of Marina and west of the Salinas River on the former Fort Ord. It is very family-centric and with hundreds of homes, it’s an awesome place for trick or treat.
Forest Hill Retirement Home in Pacific Grove. Residents of the retirement home welcome young trick or treaters and are ready with treats. It’s a nice stop that brings enjoyment to the residents. It’s located at 551 Gibson Avenue in Pacific Grove. Check their website to see when they will have the treats out.
Harden Ranch. This great family neighborhood in North Salinas gets very involved in Halloween and welcomes trick or treaters.
LaMesa Village. Located on General Jim Moore Blvd. in Monterey, this mostly military community is a safe place to trick or treat with lots of participants giving out candy.
Las Palmas. Las Palmas Ranch is a family friendly community consisting of 700 single family homes. Located off River Run Road in Salinas, it’s a great choice for trick or treat.
Los Olivos. This South Salinas neighborhood is filled with family homes, many decorated for Halloween and welcoming trick or treaters.
Spreckels. Located between Salinas and Monterey on Highway 68, the small town vibe of Spreckels makes it a fun place for trick or treating. You’ll find lots of lighted homes handing out candy.
Toro Park. Located along Highway 68 between Monterey and Salinas, Toro Park is a prime family neighborhood. The wide streets make it easy to park and safe for trick or treating.
Merchant Trick or Treat
Most of the peninsula cities as well as Del Monte Center in Monterey have a dedicated day for merchant trick or treating. Here are the details:
- Downtown Pacific Grove: October 26 from 10 am – 2 pm. Ghosts and goblins of all ages are invited to this free family event. Activities include candy, giveaways, music, the PGPD Halloween Safety Zone and special offers at participating businesses. Children Must be accompanied by an adult.
- Del Monte Center Pumpkin Pandemonium: October 31 from 3:00-5:00 pm. Trick-or-Treat event that is safe and fun for all ages. Candy and glow sticks will be handed out at treat stations, plus pumpkins at the Pumpkin Patch.
