BIKE DEMO
Want to try out a balance bike? Is your kid ready for pedals? Do you have questions about the pros and cons of training wheels? Want to make sure your kid's helmet fits properly? Join us for a bike demo at Del Monte Manor in Seaside. We'll have a limited number of balance and pedal bikes available for families to touch and try. Bikes are available on a first-come first-serve basis (no reservations), so it's best to arrive early. Before you ride, you'll need to sign a waiver and get your helmet checked. We'll have some available to borrow but on a very limited basis.
- Date: Friday, January 5.
- Time: 3pm - 5pm.
- Location: Del Monte Manor in Seaside.
We also have some new kids helmets that were donated to us by Stefania Castillo, Transportation Planner with the City of Monterey for use in our Kittie Knox Community Programs (Balance Bike Clinics, Balance Bike Meetups, Family Rides, Family Cycling Workshops, Bike Kits & Clinics, Community Movement for Mobility Justice, etc.).They're free and typically fit (depending on circumference) kids age 6+ and some adults. If you're in need of one, we would love to run through a quick bike and helmet fitting with your family.
A special thank you to our Community Sponsors who continue to invest in FoCMC and support our efforts to center the needs of families of color and develop equitable access to resources through advocacy, education, and community building.
Kittie Knox Community Programs
All of our Kittie Knox Community Programs (bikes) are community-based and community-led and intentionally established to reach cash poor families in Black and Brown neighborhoods. We recognize that the history of the majority of people worldwide is a history of colonialism, genocide, and exploitation. Our Kittie Knox Community Programs are rooted in movements that build the community's power to transform the conditions of fragmentation, displacement, and loss of culture that result from this history through mobility justice. We intend to mobilize families and empower the community by building a movement to reclaim our streets.
Community Movement for Mobility Justice
Interested in a community-based and community-led movement for mobility justice? Join us! We are a collective of individuals galvanizing a grassroots effort dedicated to creating a walkable and bikeable Monterey County. We intend to mobilize families and empower the community by building a movement that decolonizes active transportation advocacy and planning.
