American Red Cross First Aid App. You'll get instant access to information on the most common first aid emergencies. Available for free at the App Store and Google Play. Also available in Spanish. The Red cross also has a free app for pet first aid as well as "Monster Guard," and app for kids aged 7-11 that teaches preparedness for emergencies at home.

Child Health Tracker. This American Academy of Pediatrics application gives parents the tools they need to track their child's health information and providers. You'll also find information on vaccinations and milestones you should be expecting. price is $4.99 and you can download in the App Store.

Doctor on Demand. At $75 per "visit" it isn't inexpensive to use Doctor on Demand but it certainly can be convenient. You load the app on your phone and your visit with a board-certified doctor is via video. According to the company, a large percentage of pediatric cases can be treated in this manner. If you suspect your child has a communicable disease or you're far from home, it could be a good option. The app is available for free at the App Store and Google Play. There is a fee for service.

Kids Doc. Another entry from the American Academy of Pediatrics, Kids Doc is designed to help you decide the level of care your child may need based on symptoms. The app also offers advice on symptom relief and how to manage minor illness and injury on your own. The app is $1.99 and available on the App Store and Google Play.

WebMD Baby App: Use this app to track feeding, nursing, sleep, growth and diaper changes. You can also watch videos and read physician-approved tips. Finally, you can watch videos with WebMD's pediatrician with baby care tips. This free app is available for download at the App Store and Google Play.
