Since 1982, the United States House of Representatives has hosted the Congressional Art Competition to celebrate the creativity of high school students across the country. High school students in California’s 19th Congressional District are encouraged to participate.
This is a unique opportunity for students to showcase their artistic talents and have their work exhibited in the U.S. Capitol alongside entries from across the nation. The winning submission from California’s 19th district will be displayed in the Capitol for an entire year, and the student artist will be invited to Washington, D.C. for a special reception on June 11, 2025.
Students may submit one original, two-dimensional piece of visual art in any of the following categories: paintings, drawings, collages, prints, photographs, mixed media, or computer-generated art. Artwork must be no larger than 26 inches by 26 inches, 4 inches in depth, and weigh no more than 15 pounds. Digital submissions will not be accepted.
All artwork must be delivered in person to one of Congressman Panetta’s district offices in South San Jose, Santa Cruz, Monterey, or Paso Robles by Wednesday, April 16, 2025, no later than 5:00 PM (PST). Submissions must include a completed Student Information & Release Form and a brief description of the artwork.
