Ooze Studio is a community-driven studio, oozing contagious creativity for all! What makes Ooze different is our approach to teaching fine art and design for all skill levels. We focus on the process of creative thinking, expression and enjoyment of making. Ooze guides us through different mediums from textiles, clays, paper, mixed media, recycled products, all the paint and more. Most importantly, it empowers us to relate to art in our own way and create unapologetically with our uniquely authentic styles.
Teen Summer Camps (grades 6-12)
- June 5-9, from 1 PM – 4 PM
- June 26-30, from 10 AM-1 PM
- July 24-28, from 10 AM – 1PM
Art projects for the upper grades will have the same process-oriented guidance as the lower grades, but with more creative thinking, conceptualizing, design thinking and focus on the details. The week begins with a “letting-loose” activity, where we tear down expectations of others and ourselves, let go of stifling methods (with appreciation for them) and quiet our inner critic. At ooze we don’t conform, instead we get inspired, which leads to self-discovery of our unique imaginations. Campers will realize this is a safe space for creative freedom to shine by exploring their ideas and skills in a variety of fine art, urban art and design driven workshops. Teen Campers leave feeling a creative rejuvenation, fueled with inspo and an innate ability to tap into the creative “ooze” zone with a sense of purpose within their own art making abilities.
Kids Summer Camps (grades k-12):
- June 5-9, from 9 AM -12 PM
- June 12-16, from 9 AM -12 PM
- June 19-23, from 9 AM -12 PM
- July 3-7, from 9 AM -12 PM
- July 10-14, from 9 AM -12 PM
- July 17-21, from 9 AM -12 PM
- July 24-28, from 9 AM -12 PM
- August 7-11, from 9 AM -12 PM
Lower grades come to Ooze camps to find their love of art, create playfully and celebrate their differences by owning their unique creative style. Oozing contagious creativity means there is a lot of laughter, dancing and fun to be had while learning about materials, applications and other artists. Art and design projects will start with a morning prompt followed by creative brainstorming and planning before we dive into making. Like scientists, we hypothesize how the project will come together with a wide array of materials and we analyze what is, and isn’t, working within our compositions. We feel it is important to not feed the kids ideas but letting their imaginations soar in a safe and nurturing environment. By the end of this camp, at “Free-play Friday” kids should feel eager to try new things with their newfound skills and be secure with their artistic individuality.
