Located just off Highway 68 at the Spreckels Boulevard exit, The Farm in Salinas continues its hands-on, family-friendly lineup through the end of July and all of August. From exploring the tiny world of pollinators to creating pressed-flower keepsakes, these workshops and weekly story times are designed to engage kids (and adults!) with nature and the rhythms of the farm.
Weekly Story Time at the Farm
When: Every Wednesday · 10:00 am and 10:30 am
What to Expect: Each session features a farm-themed story read aloud, hands-on exploration of seed pods or small planting activities, and a chance to hop aboard the Cow Train for a short spin around the grounds (tractor rides are $5). Free to attend—arrive a few minutes early to grab a good spot!
Farm School: Pollinators
When: Friday, July 25 · 10:00–12:00 pm
What to Expect: Join this special summer session all about the farm’s busiest little helpers—bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Kids will examine real seed pods, learn about pollination, enjoy a short tractor ride through the flower fields, and create a pollinator-themed craft to take home.

Farm School: Flowers
When: Friday, August 1 · 10:00–12:00 pm
What to Expect: Learn all about how flowers grow and enjoy making eco-prints and flower crowns.

Mid-Summer Arrangement Workshop
When: Saturday, August 9 · 10:00 am–12:00 pm
Dive into color theory and texture as you build a stunning centerpiece using just-harvested blooms and greenery. $50.
Farm School: Fruits and Veggies
When: Friday, August 9 · 10:00–12:00 pm
What to Expect: Learn all about growing fruits and veggies with hands on practice on how to harvest strawberries and some veggies, like snap peas and carrots and take some produce home!

Farm School: Nest Mechanics
When: Friday, August 15 · 10:00–11:15 am
Discover what makes a bird’s nest so sturdy! After examining real nests and their components, kids gather twigs, grasses, and farm-found materials to construct their miniature nests.
Art on the Farm: Pressed Flowers
When: Saturday, August 30 · 10:00 am–12:00 pm
Celebrate summer’s blooms by learning the art of pressing and mounting petals and leaves into wearable art, bookmarks, or framed keepsakes. All supplies provided, and every piece is uniquely local. $35.
All events (except Story Time) require advance registration via The Farm’s website; space is limited. While you’re there, stroll the U-pick flower fields, browse seasonal produce at the farm stand (open Mon–Sat, 9 am–5 pm), or book a guided tour on Saturdays.
