Lyrid Meteor Shower Celebrate Earth Day under the night skies. Considered to be the oldest known meteor shower; the Lyrids are named after constellation Lyra. This meteor shower is created by debris from comet Thatcher, which takes about 415 years to orbit around the Sun. The moon will be small adding to the darkness of the night sky.
