A Year in the Life: Shorebird Survival and Success in A California Estuary
EVENT DETAILS
A Year in the Life: Shorebird Survival and Success in A California Estuary
Date: Friday, May 14th, 5:30pm
Location: Live on Facebook and Zoom
Description: While there are many species of birds that live all year long in Elkhorn Slough, the truly astonishing thing is the numbers of migratory birds that use the slough as a stopping point on their yearly journey to and from breeding grounds. More than 20,000 shorebirds alone can be seen each Fall and Spring! When are they here, and where are they when they aren’t here? Join local birder and interpreter Steve Johnston for stories of survival and success in the Elkhorn Slough. You’ll explore some of the Slough’s key shorebird species and find out how they rely on California’s coastal wetlands.
