Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walks & Health Fairs “Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support” 

 WHAT:

     WIC is hosting its 

15th Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk 

on Tuesday August 2, 2022 in Salinas. And for the second year in Soledad on Thursday, August 4

.  

  The walks are part of promotion of the World Breastfeeding Awareness Month celebrated throughout California. As part of this celebration WIC has invited local health agencies to provide free services, information, health screenings, cooking tips, and children’s activities to the public. The Farmers Market will be open during the Salinas event offering fresh quality fruits and vegetables (many certified organic).  Monterey County WIC is also launching a new website, www.831breastfeeds.org, a new resource with breastfeeding information for parents and providers.  

WHY:    The Monterey County WIC Nutrition Program is dedicated to improving the well-being of the community through improving the health of mothers and babies. In support of this goal, WIC is hosting its 15^th Annual Salinas Breastfeeding Awareness Walk and 2^nd Annual Soledad Walk to help support our efforts to increase community awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding. Together we can Step Up for Breastfeeding. 

WHEN:                                                                                               (Salinas) Tuesday August 2nd,2022  11:00-1:30pm                                         Walk starts at noon                           

(Soledad) Thursday, August 4^th, 2022 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm                        Walks starts at 5:00 pm 

               FREE (No cost) 

 WHERE:       8/2/22 -  Salinas WIC Office, 632 E. Alisal Street, Salinas, CA 93905,  

                Parking will be around the back of the building. 

            8/4/22 – Soledad Vosti Park, Corner of Monterey and Park Streets, Soledad CA 93960 

                 Parking is available all around the park 

WHO:   Monterey County WIC Nutrition Program (Host) 

      Agencies participating include: Natividad Medical Center, Salinas Memorial Healthcare Systems, Clínica de Salud del Valle de Salinas (CSVS), Monterey County Child Support    Services, Covered CA Outreach, Health Department, Hijos del Sol and many more.
