The Museum of Natural History in Pacific Grove has several fun events scheduled for the month of June. For information check pgmuseum.org.
- Wild West! | June 3 Kick-off June with free admission for this special event from 6-9 pm. The evening will follow a western theme and games and special items on display from the museum archives Refreshments will be available.
- Garden Work Bee | June 4 From 10 am-12 pm, come to the museum's monthly garden party. Perfect for all ages, learn about how to maintain a healthy garden through different garden-themed activities. All experience levels are welcome.
- Junior Naturalists Club Black Oystercatchers | June 18 Stephanie Turcotte Edenholm from the California Central Coast Black Oystercatcher Project will be on hand to teach all about Black Oystercatchers. Learn about the local population, how and why scientists monitor them and the way they contribute to our local ecosystem. Membership to the Junior Naturalist Club is required.
Artichoke Festival | June 11-12
For 62 years running, the Artichoke Festival has been a landmark summer kickoff, offering live entertainment, a farmers market, tons of activities and — you guessed it — artichokes! Head down to the Monterey County Fairgrounds and take in the sun and dust off your culinary chops with one of the many artichoke cooking demonstrations on tap. Carmel Surfabout | June 11-12
Ongoing since 1980, the Carmel Surfabout has become a mainstay summer kickoff event. Established by Brad Johnson and Tom Knight, the weekend has become a great way to kick off the summer season and celebrate the life and culture of Monterey’s vibrant surf community. Juneteenth | June 18
This event commemorates, celebrates, and showcases the contributions of African American culture. Celebrate at Laguna Grande Park with live entertainment, guest speakers, vendors, a food court, a kids’ zone, and a crowning ceremony. Visit @Juneteenth831 on Facebook for additional information.
Pleasure Point Street Fair | June 25
Kid-friendly fair in Santa Cruz with loads of events for all ages. There is a special kid’s zone, a skateboard contest, and more for the young ones. The adults can check out the beer garden and everyone can enjoy the vendors with art, crafts, and other stuff for sale. There will be live music throughout the fair ranging from rock to reggae to the classic Santa Cruz-style surf music. The fair supports the Live Oak Education Foundation.
