Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito County residents with photo ID will receive free admission January 21-29, 2023
Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Community Open House is back after a three-year hiatus due to an extended pandemic-related closure and recovery. Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito County residents can visit the Aquarium for free from Saturday, January 21, through Sunday, January 29, 2023.
“We’re thrilled to bring back this popular tradition,” said Monterey Bay Aquarium Executive Director Julie Packard. “Our community has always been central to our success, and we felt the power of that support as we navigated the challenges of the past few years. I’m so glad we’re able to show our appreciation by bringing back the Community Open House.”
Aquarium guests from the tri-county region must bring a photo ID and proof of current Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito County residency to receive free admission. Proof of residency can include current student identification from any university or community college located within any of these counties, utility bills, the Matrícula Consular, or monthly bus passes from Monterey-Salinas Transit, Santa Cruz Metro, and San Benito County Express.
Free admission is valid for all Aquarium exhibits and programs during regular aquarium hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Visitors from outside Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito County – including relatives or friends of local residents – can accompany local residents but will be charged regular admission fees.
