On a sunny afternoon in Monterey, my husband and I visited Pacific Bowls and Rolls for a poke fix. Surprisingly, the usually bustling spot was empty. Poke bowls were why I spent money on DoorDash during COVID-19; now that we’re past the pandemic, it’s nice to visit my favorite spot in person.
I sat at the window bar, ready to enjoy my three scoops of ebi shrimp, crab, and fresh tuna atop fresh greens with my favorite toppings (edamame, furikake, crispy onion, and ponzu dressing) as my husband walked in. His spicy tuna bowl complimented the ahi, seaweed salad, and all the fixings atop a bed of brown rice. The fish here is refreshing, and we always walk away satisfied with the protein-packed meal.
Walking across the street, we head to our main destination for our afternoon date: Board and Brush Monterey. We’d already made reservations online and walked into a well-prepared table with our names next to our projects.
Today’s edition was one of Board and Brush’s monthly “Mats and Mimosas,” which was great since I could partake in a mimosa while creating. We were given simple instructions on the process, and we were on our own from there.
It was fun to play, have it look great, and walk away with a finished product.Having been in downtown Monterey for three years, Board and Brush is a unique opportunity for an afternoon or night date. Bridal parties, baby showers, birthday parties, corporate events…the opportunities are endless. Every attendee can choose their project, reserve, and pay online separately, making the logistics seamless.
The outdoor mats project is offered once a month, but Board and Brush have multiple weekly events. When my husband talks about returning to Board and Brush to make golf projects and a large clock, you know we’ve been impressed.
