Archie has been doing yoga lately and loving it! He’s been doing weekend classes with Gemma Peterson at the PG Community Center by Caterpillar Park.
Gemma uses “yoga, story, song, adventure, craft and play, to promote self-regulation, critical thinking, mindfulness, confidence, self-esteem, coordination, and imagination.”
Archie has done two sessions of classes so far, and they are so fun, engaging, and thoughtfully put together. He’s always very excited to go. After doing one activity where the kids pick up pom pom balls with their feet, Archie always picked things up with his toes at home. 😆 And just last night, he was sitting on the couch and said the phrase, “Peace begins with me,” quietly to himself. ☺️
As a parent with anxiety, I want to set my kids up for success with plenty of tools for managing their physical health and emotional well-being. I’ve been really happy with Archie’s response to this activity.
More Yoga & Mindfulness for Kids classes are currently available for registration through the Pacific Grove Recreation website. Classes are for children ages 4-7 and meet on Saturday mornings from 10:30-11:15 AM.
