We enjoyed another outdoor adventure this week and hiked a different section of Palo Corona Regional Park. The whole family hiked to Inspiration Point, which Archie and I have done before, but we went further and hiked an additional half mile after the point to Animas Pond for the first time. The hike was about 5.5 miles. Archie hiked most of the trail himself, but I pushed him in a stroller up the steepest section. There is a picnic table at Inspiration Point with a lovely view where we enjoyed a snack.
We saw some deer along the trail and some ducks at the pond. We heard a frog, but couldn’t spot him. Archie was hoping to find some tadpoles, but we did spy some frog eggs! He did find about 3 dozen rolly-pollies along with he trail and had to play with each one so our journey was pretty stop-and-go. 😆
This was a mildly ambitious hike to do with a 4 year old and an infant, but we really enjoyed it. We brought plenty of snacks and water and took a leisurely pace with plenty of time to play along the way. We spent about 5 hours at the park altogether. We are starting to see a lot of wildflowers pop up and can’t wait to see how many bloom in the coming weeks.
