Happy Father's Day gift
Father’s Day is Sunday, June 17. Here are some great gift ideas to spoil the special Dad in your life.
1. Car Wash or Detail. A clean and shiny car equals a happy Dad. Pick up a gift certificate locally at El Estero in Monterey and Dad can enjoy a fresh cup of complimentary coffee from Carmel Valley Roasting Co. while he waits. El Estero has been voted “Best Car Wash” 24 years in a row. Visit their website for coupons and to purchase gift cards at elesterocarwash.com. Acme Car Wash Co. is another great option. Located in Salinas, they have 2 locations, including a yummy deli at the Abbot location. Visit acmecarwashsalinas.com for coupons or to join their Rewards club.
2. Round of Golf. For the golfing Dad, a round of golf is a dream come true, especially with the world-class golf courses we have here on the Peninsula. There is a course for every budget, from the Pebble Beach courses to Pacific Grove Links (also known as “Poor Man’s Pebble Beach”) there are over 15 courses in our area.
3. Spa Treatment. Pamper dad with a massage or spa treatment at one of the many local spas. Many offer a locals discounts, too. A favorite is Refuge in Carmel Valley. They can enjoy the thermal pools and a massage.
4. Sports Tickets. Our area has a plethora of sports teams and lots of opportunities to spoil Dad with a game or special event. Form the San Francisco 49ers to the San Jose Sharks and the Golden State Warriors; there is something for everyone. Check out Stub Hub or Travel Zoo for deals on tickets.
5. Craft Beer. Pick up a six-pack or growler for your favorite Dad. We are lucky to have some great craft breweries, including Alvarado Street Brewery and Fieldwork Brewing Company. Their offerings frequently change, so be sure to visit their website or locations for available craft brews.
6. Entry Fee for a Race. For the athletic Dad, consider purchasing an entry fee for an upcoming race. The Monterey Bay Half Marathon will be held on November 11th. That gives Dad plenty of time to train, too. Entry fees vary. Visit montereybayhalfmarathon.org for current pricing.
7. A Handmade Item. Does the Dad in your life love to paint or do they want to learn how? Book a spot with Progress Not Perfection Paint Party. They will host two instructor-led sessions on June 16 from 3-5pm and June 17 from 10:30am-12: 30 pm. Visit www.pnppaintparty.com to purchase tickets and get the creative juices flowing with the Dad in your life. Monterey Mini Makers will also be hosting a class to create a gift for dad. This class is for ages 2-6 on June 16. To register, visit their website at www.montereyminimakers.com.
8. Gym Membership. Help the special guy in your family get in the best shape with a gym membership. There are several options here on the Peninsula, but a Dad favorite is First City Crossfit in Monterey. The first five classes are free, and they also offer personal training sessions at just $50 per session. They also offer childcare so that the kids can come along with Dad, too.
